Wine lists, menus, advertisements and grocery store flyers in France all sport a government-imposed warning about the dangers of alcohol abuse. Something I saw the other day in a wine bar in Perpignan therefore caught my attention.
On the chalk board listing all of the establishment’s offerings – most of which were inexpensive – was a section of Champagnes ranging up into three figures. Beneath this section of the board was written, “à consommer sans modération.”
