Spring

The sun is out today and the sparrows are making up for a wet, dreary week. There’s a chirpfest happening outside my window.

Like exclamation points, narrow green shoots have begun to punctuate the white and pink of almond blossoms. Almost overnight, irises popped up and bloomed their purple. Wildflowers of yellow and white are unrolling their lush carpet.

The season change is all the more striking set against the Mediterranean backdrop a few miles away. The sea is bluer today than I’ve ever seen it.

It will be very cold this week and there’s rain on the way, but today is today and it’s worth celebrating.
